My favourite things… NOLA style

One of the real bonuses in having home and family scattered everywheres is that I can look forward to things in every destination. This is one of the things I’m looking forward to when I get back to NOLA. I’d like you to meet the Muffuletta.
A traditional style muffuletta sandwich consists of a muffuletta loaf split horizontally and covered with layers of marinated olive salad, capicola, salami, pepperoni, ham,Swiss cheese and provolone. The sandwich is sometimes heated to soften the provolone.[3] Quarter, half, and full-sized muffulettas are sold.
The signature olive salad consists of olives diced with the celery, cauliflower andcarrot found in a jar of giardiniera, seasoned wih oregano and garlic, covered in olive oil, and allowed to combine for at least 24 hours.

On a rainy gray ‘summer’ day in London, I look forward not only to eating one of these babies, but to the company I shall be in when I do.
